Painting made by Jules Van De Leene around 1920, representing boats (barques and sailboats) stranded on a beach at low tide.
A colourful, pleasant, bright and lively painting. The painter's touch is lively, one feels the assured technique of the watercolourist who has no right to make mistakes.
Gouache technique on cardboard, period frame in carved wood stuccoed under glass, some plaster missing (see photos)... Dimensions: H 36cm x W 56cm without frame, (H 53cm x W 70cm with frame).

Biography:
Belgian painter from Brussels (Ixelles 1887 - Auderghem 1962). Trained at the Academies of Ixelles and Brussels with Constant Montald, he started with watercolours (nude, portrait, interior, marine) of a rather realistic style, he then discovered oil painting in 1923, his painting then became more luminous... Numerous stays in the Netherlands from 1912 to 1913, passages in France from 1919 to 1922, stays regularly in the Netherlands from 1927 to 1930.
