In Limoges, painted enamel on copper flourished from the Renaissance onwards. Unlike cloisonné or champlevé enamel, this method offers unique pictorial freedom: the motifs, applied with a brush using coloured vitrifiable powders, are then fired at a very high temperature, revealing deep, luminous and perfectly fused colours under the heat of the kiln. Often used to decorate objects, miniature portraits or jewellery, this enamelling technique is a perfect illustration of this expertise. A reflection of exceptional craftsmanship.
