A rare and imposing Hollywood Regency-style lamp, attributed to the House of Jansen, dating from the 1970s.
This lamp features an Ammonoidea - Cleoniceras ammonite fossil (Cretaceous Albian), probably from Madagascar.
The structure is in black lacquered wood, with rectangular gilded brass uprights, supporting an original velvet paper adjustable shade with a gilded interior. The lamp is in good condition overall, although there are a few signs of wear on the edges of the shade at the usual contact points (see photo).
It works with a standard screw-in bulb (E27), compatible with E27 LED bulbs, and has a switch built into the cable.
The device is fully functional and ready to use.

Maison Jansen in Paris:
La Maison Jansen is an interior design house located in Paris. It was founded in 1880 by the Dutchman Jean-Henri Jansen. Maison Jansen is considered to be the first global design firm to have turned its name into a brand, offering its services in Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. In the early 1940s, Maison Jansen set up its own workshops in 17,000 m2 on rue Saint Sabin in Paris. Throughout its history, the firm has employed the traditional European style of design but has also followed European trends in this field, notably the Viennese Secession, Modernism and Art Deco, which were developed by the firm between 1920 and 1950. Under Boudin's direction, Maison Jansen worked for the royal families of Belgium, Iran and Serbia, as well as for the White House under the administration of John F. Kennedy...
